Dedication
To my Papa Clemens, the fourth generation of “Bellings in the circus,” who told me most of the stories. And to my son, Craig, who let me repeat them over and over and over again. No wonder he’s a non-pro!
Tom Belling, an American acrobat, made a significant contribution to the world of clowning by developing the red clown or Auguste character in 1870. This character, known for its humorous and mischievous nature, became a beloved counterpart to the refined and sophisticated white clown.
